Breakouts in a humid city are rarely just about washing your face more. Heat, sunscreen, pollution and a mask of sweat by mid-afternoon all leave pores loaded, and the usual response — scrubbing harder, drying the skin out — strips the barrier and provokes more oil in return. This treatment works the other way round: clear what is blocking the pore, calm the inflammation, and leave the barrier intact.

Your aesthetician adjusts the protocol to what your skin is actually doing on the day. Congestion with few inflamed spots is treated differently from an angry hormonal flare-up, and sensitive skin gets gentler actives and shorter contact times.

What happens during the session

1. Skin assessment. Your aesthetician looks at what type of breakout you have, how reactive your skin is, and what you are currently using at home — including any prescription products, which change what is safe to apply.
2. Deep cleanse and softening. Thorough cleansing followed by warmth to soften the pore contents, so extraction needs far less pressure.
3. Gentle extraction. Blackheads and congestion are cleared with controlled technique. Deep cystic spots are left alone — forcing those causes scarring, so we do not.
4. Calming and protecting. Antibacterial and soothing actives to bring inflammation down, then a barrier-supporting finish. Redness settles over the following hours.

Will extraction hurt or leave marks?

You will feel pressure, and areas that are already inflamed are more tender. Because the skin is softened first, far less force is needed than most people expect. Mild redness for a few hours afterwards is normal and settles by the next morning. Tell your aesthetician if anything is genuinely painful — pain is the signal to stop on that spot, not to push through it.

What this treatment is not

This is a professional facial, not medical acne treatment. It manages congestion and calms inflammation well, but severe cystic acne, acne leaving scars, or acne that has not responded to anything you have tried deserves a dermatologist — those cases usually need prescription medication that no facial can substitute for. We will tell you honestly if that is what we are looking at.

If you are using isotretinoin (Accutane), or prescription retinoids, tell us before booking. Extraction and active ingredients are not appropriate on skin thinned by those medications, and we would need to wait.

Getting lasting results

One session clears what is currently blocking your pores and calms what is inflamed. Because a pore takes several weeks to congest again, guests treating persistent breakouts usually come every three to four weeks until the skin settles, then space sessions out.

Between visits, the two things that make the biggest difference are daily sunscreen — post-breakout marks darken and linger far longer with sun exposure — and resisting the urge to squeeze at home, which is what turns a spot that would have faded into a mark that lasts months.
