Looking for Traditional Therapy Add-ons near you in District 1? Chạm Spa is at 82/20A Mạc Đĩnh Chi in Tân Định Ward — a few minutes on foot from Tân Định Market, and a short ride from Bến Thành and Đồng Khởi.

These are short, targeted therapies drawn from Vietnamese traditional practice, and they are priced to be added rather than booked alone. Each does something a massage cannot: warmth that penetrates without pressure, herbal preparations held against a specific area, or the stimulating surface technique of cạo gió that generations here have used for stiffness and for the feeling of coming down with something.

Your therapist will often suggest one during a session if they find something an add-on suits — a cold, stubborn shoulder, or a lower back that wants heat before deeper work. You are never obliged to take the suggestion.

A note on ginger scraping

Cạo gió leaves temporary red or purplish marks on the skin where it has been performed. This is expected and is the whole point of the technique in traditional practice — it is not bruising from excessive force. The marks are painless, fade within a few days, and are usually on the back where clothing covers them.

Guests unfamiliar with the tradition are sometimes surprised by the marks, so we mention it in advance rather than afterwards. If you would rather not have visible marks — before a beach holiday or a wedding, for instance — infrared light therapy or a herbal patch achieves warmth without them.

Planning your visit

Mention any add-on you would like when booking, or simply ask your therapist during the session. Tell them about skin conditions, sunburn, blood-thinning medication, or if you are pregnant — heat-based add-ons and ginger scraping are not used during pregnancy.

Chạm Spa is in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, near Mạc Đĩnh Chi. Book through Zalo or WhatsApp, or walk in — evenings and weekends fill first, so booking ahead is worthwhile. We are closed on Tuesdays.

Frequently Asked Questions

What traditional add-on therapies does Chạm Spa offer?

Three, at 50,000 ₫ each: Infrared Light Therapy, Herbal Patch, and Traditional Ginger Scraping (cạo gió). They are designed to be added to a massage or body treatment at our spa in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

How much do add-on therapies cost?

Each add-on is 50,000 ₫ at Chạm Spa, added to the price of your main treatment. They are intended as additions rather than standalone bookings.

What is cạo gió, and does it leave marks?

Cạo gió is traditional Vietnamese scraping, performed here with ginger, used for stiffness and heaviness. It does leave temporary red or purplish marks where performed — that is expected in traditional practice, not bruising from excessive force. The marks are painless and fade within a few days.

Does ginger scraping hurt?

Most guests describe it as a strong scraping sensation rather than pain, and many find it relieving. Pressure is adjusted on request. Tell your therapist if it becomes uncomfortable at any point.

Which add-on should I choose if I do not want visible marks?

Infrared Light Therapy or a Herbal Patch. Both deliver penetrating warmth to a specific area without leaving any marks, which makes them the better choice before a holiday, a wedding or anything sleeveless.

Can add-ons be used during pregnancy?

No. Heat-based add-ons and ginger scraping are not used during pregnancy. Our Pregnancy Massage is designed to be appropriate on its own, with safe side-lying positioning throughout.

How do I add one of these to my treatment?

Mention it when booking through Zalo or WhatsApp, or simply ask your therapist during your session. They will often suggest one themselves if they find an area that suits it — you are never obliged to take the suggestion. Please note we are closed on Tuesdays.
